Christmas Food Run 2006
17 December 2006

This year's Christmas Food Run went over great. We had 16 needy families that each one would receive a 20lb turkey and all the fixings for a Christmas dinner plus a $125 gift card for Wal-Marts and a few presents.
Below you will see just a few of the 153 pictures I took all day.
If you would rather watch a slide show with all 153 pictures click here.

Sunday morning started off kind of early getting everything ready for the big run.

In only a few months and mainly by word of mouth we raised $2,803. A lot better than last year.

Three of the needy families came by Mike's and picked everything up, saving us some time on the road.

Some of the kids didn't know what to make of it all.

Yes, the children came in all sizes.

Santa (Wild Bill) getting a kiss from PJ.

All the crew making the run posing with Santa and his elves.

Tom (Bird Man) rode in the back guarding the food.

Almost time to get rolling.

The line of bikes (about 40 of them) and four 4-wheelrs was kind of on the long side.

Our first stop was in Old Homosassa.

Heading out of Old Homosassa.

Coming down the Florida Barge Cannel bridge into Levy County.

Our second stop was in Inglis.

Last year we helped this family and Mom was in a wheel chair, but now she is standing using a cane, she is making good progress.

While up in Inglis we had to take a short break at The Mousetrap Saloon.

Santa and his elf (Pam).

The looks on all the children's faces made it all worth while.

Our third stop was down in Crystal River. Mom was in awe of all the motorcycles and the fact that Santa was coming.

This is what it's all about.

Our forth stop.

Dice from Dixie Biker Magazine came along for the ride. Watch for his article in the next issue.

Most of the places we went to kids came out of the woodwork to see Santa and get a candy cane.

Fifth stop.

Sixth stop.

Santa was having as much fun as the rest of us. This little girl couldn't believe she was getting a bicycle.

The seventh stop. One of the little boys was very bashful and wouldn't take his face out his father's shoulder.

At every stop everybody had their cameras out.

Time for another short break at The Sand Hill Saloon in Lecanto.

Our eighth stop. The kids were off playing someplace and we didn't have the time to wait for Mom & Dad to find them.

Stop number 9. This little girl was so cute everybody wanted to hold her.

Even Santa.

Stop 10 and Santa still had a hard time with his speech.

This Mom had a hard time keeping back the tears of joy.

Stop 11. Do you think these kids were happy to see Santa?

What do you think is going through her mind?

At our 12th stop. Look at those smiles.

Don't worry Little George, we're getting close to the end.

Stop number 13 and the last one. Not all the children were home.

After this it's time to head back to Mike's Pub.

We have already started collecting for next year. We hope it will be bigger and better. Anybody wishing to help with donations you can e-mail Scott & Pam or me or call Mike's Friendly Pub (352) 628-6896.
